SilverStone Launches the SG06-Lite Mini-ITX Enclosure

The original SG06 was released back in 2009, and apparently it is still a very popular chassis. The SG06-Lite is a follow on to that with the only major difference being the lack of a power supply (the original SG06 came with an SFX Power Supply). The one other change is an upgrade to USB 3.0 ports for the front I/O.

The SG06-Lite can house both Mini-DTX and Mini-ITX motherboards, and at the time of release was quite a revolutionary case since it was the only case in its class which could house a 120 mm fan as well as graphics cards up to 10" long. The chassis will house one 3.5" drive as well as another 2.5" drive. There is also room for a slim optical drive. Along with the chassis is the 120 mm fan that the original SG06 was known for, which works as an intake fan to create positive pressure. Regarding CPU cooling, the enclosure has room for coolers up to 82 mm in height. The only major catch is that the enclosure only supports SFX form factor power supplies.

Silverstone has announced that the SG06-Lite has already hit retail, and that it sells for an MSRP of $52.

Toms should do a shootout with other cases in this class sometime. Like the Prodigy and Node 304.

SG-08 is still my favorite, but that price point is quite appealing.
