Acer's New Liquid Gallant Duo Up for Pre-order in UK

With IFA just around the corner, Acer yesterday got a bit of a jump start on the competition in announcing two brand new Android 4.0 phones. Though the company has happy enough to talk specs, it failed to provide any specifics when it came to pricing and a release. However, it seems pricing for one of the phones has surface in the UK.

Online retailer Expansys current has the Liquid Gallant Duo listed for pre-order at £149. Unfortunately, the site hasn't published a ship date or a projected release date, but considering the device is up for pre-order, we're assuming it won't be long before this phone is in stores.

As the price would suggest the Liquid Gallant Duo isn't exactly a top-of-the-line smartphone when you compare it to the high-end phone on the market today. However, it does comes with a fairly respectable spec sheet featuring a 4.3-inch qHD display, 1GHz MT6575 processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, microSD compatibility and a 5 MP rear camera. As for the 'Duo' in the name, that's a tribute to this phone's dual SIM card design.

No word on pricing for anywhere else in the world, but we'll keep you posted.

Remember when Samsung got sued by Apple, embarrassed in court, and lost billions?? I do! I also remember Apple stock soaring, and me making a fortune off of it! If you weren't too busy being a blind sheep, you would have realized that Samsung never had a chance in this case, as it was open and shut. Now they get to pay for their thievery.

You can drop the crybaby act now and be a man about it. It's pathetic. The better man won today, and that was Apple.

  • I really don't get the strong hate with Apple here. You call their fans "iSheep", you hate their products no matter how good they are, and you blame them for catching ignorant customers with their advertising.

Now, I can get if you dislike the MacOS, because I do to. But, calling Apple fans "iSheep" isn't appropriate and just makes you look like a retarded hypocrite.

But, calling Apple fans "iSheep" isn't appropriate and just makes you look like a retarded hypocrite.not all apple users are iSheep, but the stereotype has some merit to it. Many apple users simply believe that apple products are the 'best' simply because it has an apple logo on it, and will buy every version of their products just to say that they have it, never once admitting to the platforms many feature shortcomings or entirely backwards OS. Those are iSheep. And we have a few well known apple trolls out here who need their proper flogging when they pop up :D.

Personally, I am not a huge fan of apple products, but they do make some nice stuff, and I use them on a fairly regular basis. Would I ever buy a mac as a daily driver? not likely. But to say that everything they put out is useless garbage is entirely wrong. It is a (pretty looking) tool, which is meant to fill a purpose, and within it's design they perform wonderfully... the problem is that when you move outside of it's intended use they are generally useless, where as Android and to a lesser extent WP can at least do something they are not designed for... even if they do not do them perfectly or without some amount of tweaking and hassle.

Unfortunately it looks just like any other Android phone out there. Good luck differentiating yourself, Acer.

The lawsuit is no big deal -financially- for a company the size of Samsung (they are much larger than Apple, in case you do not know that).
The cost will be recovered via product and parts pricing of course and Apple just told the whole world that it sees Samsung phones as a serious threat. What better product validation and PR.
Now Samsung may get slapped with a ban on current phones; with a 6 month product cycle that effects basically -end of life- models anyway; and the new generation will have been modified of course.
Samsung basically got a huge amount of PR for their products out of it, plus sympathy.
This is going to bite Apple in the long run !

Seeing that there are plenty of Samsung parts in an iPhone you know which users will end up paying for that Billion Apple just won. Talk about getting hit twice (first for the overpriced phone, and than another time thru the backdoor).
