UK Networks Say No to Nokia 808 PureView
UK consumers on their own when it comes to buying the 808 PureView.
Just last week Nokia confirmed that its 808 PureView would be arriving in the United States. The company said that the decision was a response to consumer interest and that it would launching the 808 PureView smartphone in the U.S. SIM-free and unsubsidized through Amazon.com. Now it seems consumers in the UK won't be getting any subsidies on the PureView either.
According to Pocket-Lint, UK carriers aren't interested in carrying the 808 PureView. The site reports that all four of the UK's major networks have politely confirmed that they will not be carrying the Symbian-based phone. With Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone and O2, having each said they won't be stocking the phone. Additionally, Virgin Media has said the 808 PureView won't be a part of its inventory. Only 3 UK has yet to reveal its position on the issue.
So, while the UK is getting the PureView, it appears it will be on a similar basis to Americans. No doubt networks on both sides of the pond will be more receptive to a Windows Phone-based PureView device.
If you've really got your heart set on the 808, Amazon currently has the phone up for pre-order priced at £500 in either black or white. It's current ship date is set at June 30, which is this coming Saturday.

darkavenger123 Failed before got out of the door...I suspect somehow, Nokia still harbors hope of a Symbian comeback, hence the Pureview. I think they're hoping the PureView can revive the Symbian if the demand is good enough. Unfortunately, most people just don't care about Symbian regardless what camera it has.Reply -

if you want a good camera on your phone, and dont care much for apps (most people who dont have a smart phone) than this makes the most sense to get.
you get a decent phone, and probably the best non dlr camera... -
