Netflix Technical Difficulties Cause DVD Delays

Los Gatos (CA) - Netflix and its users are continuing to reel from an all-encompassing service outage that affected its servers as well as distribution centers.

Yesterday, Netflix.com was not accessible for nearly 12 hours. Not only did this prevent users from ordering new movies but it also blocked access to its digital streaming platform, for which subscribers pay a monthly fee.

In an interview with USA Today, Netflix spokesperson Steve Swasey confirmed the outage lasted from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM PDT. That makes it Netflix's second longest outage ever.

Its backlash reached distribution centers across the country. Most subscribers will notice at least an extra day in the delivery of recently ordered movies.

"It was an unanticipated, unplanned outage and we apologize to our customers," said Netflix.
