Yesterday we got word that Google's newest Nexus phone, the Nexus 5, would arrive by the end of this week. With nothing official from Google yet, a November 1 launch is not guaranteed. However, it seems carriers are prepping for the arrival of the Nexus 5 in the meantime. Canada's Wind Mobile was yesterday caught with egg on its face regarding the Nexus 5.
The company's Facebook page featured a Nexus 5 splash page inviting customers to sign up for updates on the device. Wind also had a picture of the phone alongside the email submission form as well as a complete spec sheet for the device (despite the fact that the existence of the Nexus 5 hasn't actually been confirmed as of yet).
Thanks to leaked specs from earlier this month, we already know that the Nexus 5 will pack a 4.95-inch 1,920 x 1,080 IPS display, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor (clocked to 2.3GHz), 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel camera with a 1.3-megapixel lens up front, the same OIS present on LG's G2, a 2300mAh battery, up to 32 GB of storage, and support for CDMA, GSM, WCDMA, and LTE. Wind Mobile's page has confirmed the aforementioned specs, and adds that the phone will have ceramic power and volume buttons. What we don't know is when the phone will be launching. Reports from earlier this week suggest a November 1 launch, but that has yet to be confirmed.
Wind has since pulled the Nexus 5 registration page from its website. Luckily, the folks at MobileSyrup managed to snag a couple of screenshots, including the one above. Head on over to MobileSyrup for further proof!
