  • A Bad Day
    There are small smartphones with 1080p res, Apple laptops with 2560×1600 or 2880×1800, and no significant amount of budget 27" monitors with greater than 1080p.

    That's a solid deal for that 1080p IPS Dell monitor. Might pick one up for my brother.

    So for Dell...

    Monitors = good buy
    PCs = no?

    I've lived for some years by the rule that anything with Dell's name on it is garbage.

    Dell's monitors are fantastic. The high end ones at least (ie: $300+ for a 24"). Been using one of their 24" models that I got almost 10 years ago for around $800 (and that was on sale!) and I love it. Best investment I've ever made. Whenever I decide to upgrade, I'll be getting one of their $1000+ 30" models. Might be a while though.

    That isn't an IPS display. At least, it doesn't say IPS anywhere on the tech specs.

  • Chowmein, IPS stands for in-plane switching. You might want to check out the tech specs again.

    Ah, thanks I overlooked that. I just saw this one didn't say IPS and then DELL lists another 23" IPS display for $250 but you're right.

    FYI guys: That Dell monitor has a glass screen. So for those of you finally waiting for a glossy IPS screen to really have some popping colors, your wait is over. For those who complain that it is glossy, you guys have like literally hundreds of options that have a matte+ips screen combo, so don't complain ;P
