Source: Tom's Hardware US – Category : Miscellaneous 0 comment
S3 announced that Fujitsu will be manufacturing the firm's new range of low-power graphics processors. The new "Chrome" family will be built in a 90 nm process and will bring a 75-percent performance improvement over "earlier S3 Graphics generations" as well as features such as high-definition video support.
The focus of the new Chrome graphics processors will be performance per watt. According top media reports, Fujitsu's manufacturing capability allowed S3 to use "Longrun 2" technology to implement power saving functionalities. Longrun 2 originally was developed by Transmeta for Crusoe and Efficeon processors, but has been licensed to several other manufacturers, such as Fujitsu.
