Samsung Confirms Galaxy S4 Mini

The Galaxy S4 has barely been out for a month but rumors of a smaller, cuter version have been doing the rounds since before it was even in stores. Today, Samsung finally put us out of our misery and confirmed that the Galaxy S4 mini is indeed a real phone and it's coming soon.

The miniature version of the S4 isn't just smaller, it's also less powerful. The device packs a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor (compared to the quad-core or octa-core CPU inside the Galaxy S4), as well as 1.5 GB of RAM, 4.3” qHD Super AMOLED display, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.9-megapixel HD front-facing camera, 8GB of internal memory and support for 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+ or 3G Dual SIM depending the region. Of course, you can expect Samsung's Touch Wiz to be in full attendance and while the S4 mini's big brother will soon be available with stock Android, it's unlikely this new device will follow suit.

One thing Samsung hasn't told us is how much we can expect to pay for the S4 mini and where and when we'll be able to buy it. We'll keep you posted on that front.

Lol, this 'mini' phone has a larger screen than my Galaxy S advance. I wonder how many generations will it take till Galaxy S series is no different in size from Galaxy Note.

"Why not just a galaxy s3?" Because a Galaxy S3 is actually slightly bigger than the s4, thus for people looking for a smaller phone it wouldn't be a good choice. What I'm not sure about is how different this is going to be compared to the S3 mini.

I've seen the normal S4 and it's not much bigger than the S3. Besides price, I don't really see the reason to create the S4 mini.

They won't go that far, Sammy intentionally engineered the S4 to be nearly the same size as the S3. And I think a trend to go a bit smaller will start soon. Especially considering more and more people have tablets everyday, and are slowly doing tasks they would do on there large smartphone and now just using there tablets.

If they can price it competitively with the Nexus 4, I'd consider it.

Sorry, 4.3" is not mini. It's still a large phone if you ask me.
