Third-Person, Action/Adventure 'Star Wars' Game Coming From Respawn Entertainment

With all the Star Wars celebrations today (May the Fourth be with you!), EA joined in the festivities by announcing yet another Star Wars project. However, the publishing giant isn’t using one of its in-house development teams. Instead, it’s bringing in an outsider, specifically Respawn Entertainment, to make a third-person, action/adventure title set in the Star Wars universe.

With this new announcement, Respawn Entertainment is going to have its hands full with two games in development. Last month, the development team teased Titanfall 2, with more information coming next month at E3. Even with a new Star Wars game, it seems that the studio made some significant progress with Titanfall 2, so it’s more than likely that it will come out before the new project.

Respawn’s entry into the Star Wars universe puts it in a short list of other studios under EA’s banner that are also working on various Star Wars projects, including DICE, BioWare, Visceral Games and the new Motive Studios. It’s still unclear as to what’s in store for Respawn’s latest project, but based on Asmussen’s (and Respawn’s) previous work, fans could expect an intense experience worthy of the Star Wars name.

So is this EA's way of admitting Battlefront was not worthy of all the hype it got?
I still fail to see how any SW game can top Battlefront 2, those were the days.

Yeah EA and DICE learned their lesson the hard way with Battlefront 3. People want a singleplayer, and they want a multiplayer with true vehicle controls. The aircraft in Battlefront 3 were stupidly over simplified.

I'd pay good money for that. Another Dark Forces / Jedi Knight game would be welcome too.

Yeah, they "learned their lesson" all right. All the way to the bank. If you think you're EVER getting a Battlefront of old from EA, you're sorely mistaken imo.
