The impending inauguration of New York City Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani invites coverage of the usual safety information. At the event, no large bags, drones, strollers, or, remarkably, Raspberry Pis or Flipper Zero devices are allowed. The last two entries on the list are the popular single-board computer (SBC) and the Swiss Army knife of hacking tools. The latter, sure, that could be used for some nefarious deeds, but the Raspberry Pi? That would take some work.

Your laptop has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and even a GPIO that could be exploited.

My laptop has a built in gpio? i don't think so. If laptops had gpio(s) there would've long been projects that do not need arduinos, Rpis or esp32s.

Back to the article topic, if I can't bring Rpis, i bring Opis.

Weird choices considering you can fit way more explosives into a laptop than a Raspberry Pi.

It is a simple matter to add a small and cheap USB to GPIO dongle to your laptop.

Way back in the day we used to write scripts for input/output of individual pins on a parallel port... under windows... We did this to interface coin and dollar bill receivers with kiosk software before models were released with usb ports.. (I even had a business called PeopleSurf.net, where we built rent-by-hour internet kiosks and placed them at laundrymats and campgrounds... it was a short lived venture... once internet via cell phones was obiquitous the business model collapsed).
So an old enough laptop with an old enough version of windows could theorectically be used for nefarious purposes...

Anyway.. no Arduinos on the list... so that's a hole.

Odd to list something that is illegal, or where they allowed before they got band prohibited?

Something tells me there will be more "illegal substances" than Raspberry Pies at the event.

Blankets? Really... it's now illegal to keep warm? When did safety become the number one priority for a free people? All this time I thought liberty was the number one priority for a free people. If safety is it- heck- turn yourself into a maximum security prison... there's round the clock fully manned security.
