Facebook Picks UK for New International Engineering Office

It's been a massive year for Facebook, and the company is keeping things ticking along with the announcement that it's planning to open a brand new engineering office in London.

Phillip Su, a software engineer at Facebook, announced the social network's plans in a blog post earlier this week. Su called London a 'perfect fit' for Facebook engineering, highlighting the cities growing startup community and abundance of technical talent. Eventually, the Facebook London team will focus on building products in key areas and platform, but will first focus on building 'a core of great engineers.'

"We are a culture of builders, and the environment we plan to create in London will reflect that. Despite the size of our service - 900 million users and growing - we still push new code to the site every day," said Su. "We eliminate unnecessary process and give all our engineers the opportunity to work on the things that matter most. Our engineers in London - like those in Menlo Park, New York, and Seattle - will be able to pursue great ideas and ship products quickly."

Facebook is now hiring to fill positions at the headquarters, and a quick peek at Facebook's careers page tells us the company is initially looking to hire total of 20 people. This includes everything from a recruitment managerto software engineers.
