We've been hearing about Samsung's rugged version of the Galaxy S4 for quite some time now. Even before the original S4 was released, there's been talk of a water resistant and dust-proof version of the device. Come June, we'll have a version of the S4 running on stock Android, and soon we'll have a third Galaxy S4.
GSM Arena has obtained a few photos of the Galaxy S4 Active, which will indeed be dust and water resistant. The device is a little different from the regular S4 as far as appearance is concerned. Instead of the usual hot-keys on the bottom of the screen, the S4 Active appears to feature three hardware buttons. GSM Arena reports that the phone comes in a metallic shell complete with bolts on the back.
On the specs side of things, the device is largely the same as the Galaxy S4. However, the camera will apparently be an 8-megapixel affair as opposed to the 13-megapixel camera on the regular S4.
No word on a release date just yet, but we'll keep you posted. In the meantime, you can click through to GSM Arena to see the rest of the photos.
