VIDEO: Is This HP's Windows 8 Slate?

Now that we have an official release date for Windows 8, we've finally got some idea of when we'll see Windows 8 devices from computer companies around the world. Many have said they'll be ready to launch when Windows 8 is released, but we don't have an awful lot of information on the specs or appearance of these devices.

Today brings us a possible glimpse of HP's Windows 8 tablet offering, the Slate 8. Spotted by an Engadget reader, the device in question appears in an HP commercial that has been posted to YouTube by the company. Dubbed Make It Matter, the end of the video shows a brief shot of a man in a shirt and tie using a sleek-looking tablet. The back of the slate looks to be metal, a marked departure from the HP TouchPad, which had a glossy, black, plastic casing.

HP hasn't offered any explanation regarding the presence of this mystery device in its commercial, but we'll let you know if, and when, the company does make any comment. In the meantime, check out the video below. The tablet itself shows up at 0:55.

While it might be their new slate device, what does this prove...nothing. It's obvious its' a tablet and with Windows 8 right around the corner, all the big companies will be releasing one.

Also wanted to add, a real DJ would not be wearing Beats headphones :P Yes I understand it's an HP commercial.

If that is the new HP win8 slate then just by looking at the back of it I can see why MS felt the need to make their own tablet...

A purposeful leak to stir the internet community talking. They've accomplished that, it seems.
