It's estimated that just 10 percent of the world are left-handed but that hasn't stopped lefties from being vocal about what they want. Gaming peripheral manufacturer Razer has announced that it will be producing a left-handed version of the Naga gaming mouse following huge demand from its users. Razer said on Friday that it saw "an overwhelming response from its devoted community" regarding the issue of the a Naga for lefties.
Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan promised left-handed users that the company would make a left-handed Naga if his Facebook post on the topic reached 10,000 "Likes" before April 21.
"We DO want to make a left-handed Naga -- but we can't just make it for 100 people -- even for 10,000 gamers, it's a huge loss maker for Razer," Tan's posted on Facebook read. "But I do hear all of you out there that have been asking for a LH Naga -- and I'll throw the challenge back to you -- if there are 10,000 Likes in a month from now on this post, we WILL make a LH Razer Naga. You'll need to be patient though -- because it will take at least a year from when we start. But you will have my word that we will make one."
On Friday, March 30, a full three weeks before the deadline, the company announced that it had hit the 10,000-Likes goal and, as promised, would be producing the mouse.
"That Facebook post generated more buzz than we could’ve ever imagined, which proves that there have been a number of gamers that have had their needs ignored for some time," said Tan. "We pride ourselves on being gamers ourselves, and we all know that there is no substitute for gaming with your dominant hand."
So, it might take a while, but lefties will get their own Naga gaming mouse. The Naga boasts 17 MMO-optimized buttons (including 12 button thumb grid), 5600dpi Razer Precision 3.5G Laser Sensor, 1000Hz Ultrapolling / 1ms response time, and 200-inches-per-second max tracking speed, and weighs in at just 134g or 0.3 lbs.
