Acer Intros TravelMate B115P: a Fanless Laptop

Acer revealed the new TravelMate B115P, a fanless laptop aimed at students and professionals who stay on the go. The company doesn't offer much in regards to a spec list, nor does it say when and where this laptop will be released, nor how much it will cost.

According to Acer, this laptop features the company's "FlowCurve" design, measuring just 0.834 inches thick and weighing 2.62 pounds. The laptop also includes a full-sized keyboard, a large precision touchpad with "enhanced sensitivity and accuracy," and an aluminum top cover that's strong enough to tolerate the dings and bumps of everyday life.

This upcoming laptop packs up to an Intel Pentium quad-core processor, up to 8 GB of memory, a 128 GB solid state disk, and an 11.6-inch display with a decent 1366 x 768 resolution. Mounted just above the screen is an HD webcam with High Dynamic Range (HDR). Powering all of this is a battery promising 10 hours of life on a single charge.

Acer is actually releasing two models: this one with multi-touch input, and a second TravelMate B115 that does not have a touch screen. The latter will obviously be cheaper but still just as quiet and functional as the B115P. Both use Microsoft's Windows 8.1.

"Users can rest assured that documents are secure as Acer Office Manager enables small businesses to deploy security policies, monitor IT assets and set maintenance whilst Acer ProShield lets users easily maintain their credentials, data protection and web accounts," states the PR. "Business contacts can also be quickly saved to smartphones via Contact Pickup while Face Login enables quick login using facial recognition."

Other software solutions provided with the laptop include OneDrive, Skype, and Acer's Touch Tools (Screen Grasp, Scrapboard and AccuFinger). For the education market, the laptop provides Acer Classroom Manager (ACM) and Student Journal apps.
