Biostar has announced a new motherboard – the A88MQ. This motherboard is a fairly standard entry-level motherboard with an FM2+ socket and an AMD A88X chipset, built on the Micro-ATX form factor. The CPU is fed power through a five-phase VRM circuit, which is powered by a single 4-pin EPS connector.
Wired to the CPU slot are four DDR3 memory slots. These can be filled up with 16 GB DIMMs, allowing users to install up to 64 GB of memory. Also present is a single PCI-Express x16 slot, alongside a PCI-Express x1 slot and a legacy PCI slot. Storage connectivity is handled by six SATA3 (6 Gb/s) ports.
Rear I/O connectivity is handled by two PS/2 ports, a dual-link DVI port, VGA, two USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, as well as Gigabit Ethernet and stereo analog audio headers. The press release mentions HDMI support and optical audio out as part of the Video+ and Audio+ features, which are part of the 6+ experience; however, these are distinctly absent on the product images.
There has been no exact word on pricing or availability yet, though this will not be an expensive board.
