Club3D's New USB 3.0 to DisplayPort Adapter Supports 4K

Most of us will never need these little devices, but there are situations where a USB 3.0 to VGA, DVI or HDMI adapter is useful – at kiosks, for example. Up until now these devices only supported rather limited resolutions, but Club3D, a Dutch manufacturer, just announced its new CXV-2302.

This adapter is a plug-and-play certified USB 3.0 to DisplayPort 1.2 adapter. This adapter doesn’t have enough bandwidth to push 4K at 60 Hz, but it will do 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz. For kiosks or general purpose systems 30 Hz is more than enough, not that we expect to see kiosks with 4K displays anytime soon.

You’ll also be able to drive lower resolution displays with the adapter.

No word on pricing or availability yet, but we’ll let you know when we hear back from Club3D.

Nice, hopefully it doesn't cost an arm and a leg

Well the barrier right now to see those would be the price of 4K displays, they could charge quite a bit because the only people buying as of now are probably going to be using it for large 4K displays as trade shows or product launches, maybe airports or train stations could pick this up as well if they switch to 4K displays (unlikely at least here in the US)

This will be great for my laptop which has a USB 3.0 but doesn't have DP. I have a 1600P monitor I'd like to hook on it :D
