ViewSonic Intros Dual-Point Optical Touch LED Display
This two-point touch display from ViewSonic will arrive just in time for Microsoft's launch of Windows 8.
On Wednesday ViewSonic introduced its latest touch-enabled LED-lit display, the 22-inch TD2220. Shipping later this month, it will be equipped with advanced dual-point optical touch technology, allowing for precise 2-point touch navigation whether it's a finger, stylus or gloved hand. It will also have a hardened 8H level scratch resistant, dust-proof surface, perfect for commercial, high traffic and consumer environments.
According to the specs, the TD2220 will feature a 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) resolution, a typical contrast ratio of 1000:1, a dynamic contrast ratio of 20,000,000:1, a typical brightness of 200 cd/m2, and viewing angles of 170º horizontal and 160º vertical. It will also have a response time of 5ms, and will be illuminated by a white-light LED. Video connectors will include a 15-pin mini D-sub port (VGA) and a DVI-D port (with HDCP).
ViewSonic's new LED panel will also consist of two premium 2-watt speakers with SRS Premium Sound mounted on the back. It's USB HID compliant design will consist of two Type-A USB ports and one Type-B USB port for connecting a mouse, keyboard and other peripherals. Ideal for commercial environments, this touch-activated display will even include a VESA mountable design and a Kensington lock slot for security deterrence
"This Energy Star and EPEAT Silver certified display also supports different Eco modes for energy savings of up to 40-percent over same-sized monitors," the company said. "Ideal for commercial environments, this touch-activated display also features a VESA mountable design and comes standard with a Kensington lock slot for security deterrence."
VierwSonic's new TD2220 should be ideal for desktop consumers looking for a touch-based display for Windows 8. It's already compatible with Windows 7's own touch-based features right out of the box thanks to built-in Touch drivers. ViewSonic said the TD2220 will be available in North and Latin America the third week of October for an ESP of $329 – just in time for Windows 8.

Maybe I'm just old, but I seem to remember ViewSonic once being a company with a good reputation...nowadays they don't seem to be held in particularly high regard. -
