Samsung Unveils the Galaxy Note 2: It Gets Even Bigger

You know that tiny little tablet...massive phone Samsung's Galaxy Note? Well, it's back and bigger than ever. The previous model has a 5.3-inch display, and the upcoming Galaxy Note 2 bumps that up to 5.5-inches. Mind you, the resolution and ratio has taken a bit of a step the other way, with the new one at 1280x720, while the outgoing model has more pixels at 1280x800. Nevertheless, the screen is still Samsung's in-house AMOLED technology.

Here are the rest of the specs:

2 GB of RAM
1.6 GHZ quad-core CPU (Samsung did not clarify if it was an Exynos)
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
Weighs 180 grams
Comes with a 3100 mAh battery
Measures 80 x 151 x 9.4 mm
8 MPixel rear camera, 1,9 MPixel front camera
Available with 16, 32 and 64 GB

Stay tuned for hands-on impressions and live photos as our European team gets them.

Will sell boatloads, just like the last one and not a flicker from Apple about it so must not have a leg to stand on for lawsuits, until they patent the stylus and start all over again

I think Samsung tapped into a totally unexpected market with the Note. Namely, people 40+. My aunt, who is 60, loves her Galaxy Note. She doesn't care about Android vs iPhone. She doesn't care about Apple or Google. She doesn't care about which apps are on which devices.

The one thing she cares about is its massive number keys for dialing. If she could make calls on her iPad she'd be in heaven.

Doesn't it look like a slim iPhone?
Bit larger but the same round corners.

    Easy to mistake the two!

    3100mAh.
    YES!

Waiting to see their Nexus version; if rumors are correct, Sony's version is already out.
Man, it's sweet to have choices!....

If I had a note no reason for an "upgrade"... I also don't see a significant difference between the S3 and note 2. Besides SIZE. at least with the S2 and note there was a res difference. This doesn't seem like a good move. Just a size difference for the sake of having a new model.

Thing is while I would like a note, I have zero problem reading anything on my s2. And with a mediocre upgrade they are not providing motivation to upgrade. To a "new" phone that they will charge top dollar for. That is the same as the old.

No that the 800 pixels helped a lot in movies, mind you. Now it's a full 16:9 aspect ratio giant phone with even better specs.

This thing will sell like hotcakes in Somalia.

    Cheers!

The key difference between the S3 and the Note, other than the size, is the stylus.
