Stir's Kinetic Desk was launched back in September 2013, a stylish table designed to promote movement while users are at work. The desk includes a built-in touch screen, a thermal presence sensor, built-in Wi-Fi and a built-in computer equipped with health tracking software. With a simple double-tap on the screen, the user can move from a sitting position to standing thanks to a set of actuated desk legs.
"The Stir Kinetic Desk learns the user's habits and adapts to their daily routine to optimize user health and productivity," states the PR. "Users receive data on calories burned, time spent standing versus sitting and more, all on the built-in touch screen."
The first production run of the Stir Kinetic Desk sold out after several weeks. Now the company announces that its "smart" table is compatible with Fitbit Flex, Fitbit One and Fitbit Zip. The Kinetic Desk will automatically send data to the user's Fitbit dashboard using the built-in Wi-Fi connectivity.
According to the company, calories burned while standing at the Kinetic Desk will be sent from the table to the Fitbit One or Fitbit Zip's total calorie count displayed on their screens. Eventually, health data retrieved from the Fitbit devices will be viewable on the Kinetic Desk's touch screen, such as active minutes, steps taken and distance traveled.

"Market-leader Fitbit has been a pioneer in enabling users to quantify their health, with a diverse product family that helps people reach their fitness goals by motivating them to move more, and this integration has been part of our roadmap since day one."
Back in September, Labrosse quoted Harvard Business Review who said that sitting is the "smoking of our generation," and that switching between sitting and standing can add an extra 50 minutes of productivity each day. That's the goal of the new Kinetic Desk: to lead a healthier lifestyle by getting us up off our seats and forcing us to stand on our feet for a while.
