RAID 5 I/O Performance
RAID 5 has become the most important RAID configuration for enterprises, as it allows high performance and redundancy with only a little waste of capacity. Although the effective I/O performance on the MemoRight flash SSDs drops by 40% in the fileserver benchmark, and 50% in the database and workstation benchmarks, it stays very much the same for Web servers, where there are virtually no write operations. However, flash I/O performance is still 3-5x faster in our scenarios.
