Avid rolls out Softimage XSI 6

Tewksbury (MA) - Avid today released a new version of its 3D animation and character creation software Softimage. The software, which is often used for animation in video games as well as for movie sequences, now integrates with the rendering application Mental Ray 3.5, supports easier transfer of animation and motion capture data from and to other 3D programs, brings some workflow enhancements and a new tool allows artists to distort and morph images and sequences.
Softimage XSI 6 is priced from $500 for the basic "Foundation" version to $7000 for the full "Advanced" package.
