XOTIC PC Intros "Phantom X1" Intel i7 Gaming Laptop

By - Source: Tom's Hardware US | B 11 comments

XOTIC PC recently launched a new gaming laptop called the Phantom X1. This device comes packed with a 4th-generation Intel Core i7-4710HQ processor, Nvidia's GeForce GTX 860M GPU and a starting price of $1124. Not too shabby.

The new laptop includes a 15.6-inch IPS matte screen with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. There's also 8 GB of 1600 MHz RAM (16 GB max), a 1 TB hard drive (5400 RPM), Wireless N and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, an SD card reader and an integrated 720p webcam. There's also Sound Blaster-compatible 3D audio and an 8-cell Smart Li-ion battery.

The Phantom X1 also features a backlit Chiclet keyboard for gaming in dark caves and red LED backlighting that surrounds the touchpad. The laptop helps the customer be more productive by providing VGA and HDMI output so that users can have a three-screen extended desktop. Two speakers line the front of the laptop while three USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port and audio jacks line up along the sides.

What this laptop doesn't include out of the box is an operating system. For consumers wanting Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit), they will see $185 tacked onto the final price. Other OS options include Windows 7 Professional (64-bit), Windows 8.1 Pro (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows Home Premium (64-bit) and Windows 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit).

Given that this laptop is customizable, customers will have a number of options to choose from such as memory, which includes an upgrade to 16 GB of 1866 MHz Crucial Ballistix Sport dual-channel memory. There are also various mSATA SSD options such as the 1 TB Samsung 840 EVO Series Solid State mSATA, a long list of HDD and SSD options, accessories and more.

This new laptop has a standard finish by default, but gamers can choose to add a custom graphic wrap, or one of four themes including Stealth, Carbon Fiber, Camo and Alligator. Customers can also choose to have a personalized text etching on the bottom, on the back of the LCD and around the touchpad (palm rests). Custom colors include Torch Red, Envy Green, Artic White, Admiral Blue, Tuxedo Black and eight more color options.

Gamers looking for an affordable laptop can build the Phantom X1 right here.

It does look like an Asus, but you can only cool a power house so many ways.

It's well priced for the feature set that you get.

I'd like to see a 1600x900 option for those of us with normal, 20/20 vision.

Same as Cyberpower Raven X6. Badge engineering. Same thing with models from OriginPC & DigitalStorm!

It's not a particularly good deal actually. I'm waiting for a Sager I bought from them to arrive shortly. Mine was 17.3" with a better CPU and GPU (i7 4810MQ and GeForce 870M respectively). I couldn't configure this one with the options I need in the first place. But even when I configured this one with the options that are actually available, it came to about $50 less than my actual configuration for a clearly inferior performance. (I wouldn't actually consider it due to the small screen size anyway...)

if you follow the link and see the back cover, it looks like a MSI laptop while the front shape looks like alienware design and the grey layout of palm rest covered in black outer line is so dell consumer laptop in few years back. this thing is nowhere near asus G series.
