Hitachi's SATA II Deskstar 7K80

With only a single disk platter, the Hitachi 7K80 comes in just two sizes, 40 GB and 80 GB. One might wonder a little why this drive also includes an SATA II (300 MB/s) interface. Since the speed of the interface itself runs at about 118 MB/s, it doesn't strain even the limits of Serial ATA I. Data transfer rates are good, but don't exceed 60 MB/s for maximum and 46 MB/s for average throughput.
The single platter design of the 7K80 makes it operate very quietly. This model also meets the RoHS (restriction of hazardous substances) recommendations, designed to reduce the presence of dangerous materials in PCs and other equipment.
