The bit growth of the global DRAM industry will be limited in the third quarter of this year as most DRAM makers around the globe have postponed either construction of new plants or other capacity expansion projects, according to sources at Taiwan DRAM makers. Increasing losses caused by sagging DRAM prices have persuaded a number of makers to hold up plans to build new 12-inch wafer plants, while reducing the rollout of new wafer starts, the sources noted.
