Sony Intros VAIO Flip Hybrid PCs, Tap Tablet and AIO PC

Sony announced on Tuesday the pricing and release dates of its VAIO Flip Hybrid PC, VAIO Tap 11 tablet and VAIO Tap 21 all-in-one PC. All three models will be available just in time for the holiday season, but customers can pre-purchase now through Sony and Best Buy. The VAIO Tap 21 will actually be available to purchase in late October at Sony retail stores and other authorized dealers.

According to Sony, the VAIO Tap 21 all-in-one PC features a 21.5 inch Full HD IPS touchscreen supporting 10 inputs, backed by a choice of Intel Core i5-4200U, Core i7-4500U or Core i7-4558U processors, and up to 16 GB of memory. Storage options include a hybrid drive up to 1 TB, or an SSD up to 512 GB. Depending on the processor, the graphics will be provided by Intel HD 4400 or Intel Iris 5100.

This AIO will also feature an Exmor R HD web camera, and a number of ports including an SD card slot, Gigabit Ethernet and two USB 3.0 ports (one for charging). This AIO arrives in Black, weighs 8.60 pounds, and has a starting price of $999.

Next in line is the VAIO Tap 11 tablet with an 11.6 inch Full HD IPS screen supporting 10 point touch input and the company's Active Pen. The choice of processors includes Intel Pentium 3560Y, Core i3-4020Y, Core i5-4210Y and Core i7-4610Y; the choice of storage options includes SSDs with 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB capacities.

The tablet also ships with 4 GB of RAM, an 8MP Exmor RS camera on the back and an Exmor R HD web camera on the front, one USB 3.0 port, micro-HDMI output, a microSD card reader, a dual array microphone, and a detachable magnetic wireless keyboard. This tablet arrives in Black or White, and starts at $799.

Finally, we have the VAIO Flip convertible PCs, arriving in 13.3 inch, 14 inch and 15.5 options. The processor lineup includes Pentium 3556U (14 inch models only), Core i3-4005U, Core i5-4200U and Core i7-4500U CPUs. Graphics options include Intel HD 4400 or Nvidia GeForce GT 735M (1 GB / 2 GB) (15 inch models only). Memory consists of up to 8 GB on the two smaller units, and up to 16 GB on the 15 inch model.

All three feature HDMI output, an SD card slot for added memory and two USB 3.0 ports whereas the 15 inch model has three USB ports and a dual array microphone. All three also sport a Full HD IPS touchscreen with 10-point input support and Active Pen support, while select 15 inch models will also have 2880 x 1620 displays. 13 inch models come equipped with 128 GB, 256 GB, or 512 GB SSD, and 14/15 inch models come with standard, hybrid, or SSD drives (up to 1GB HDD or 512 SSD).

The starting prices are $1099 for the 13.3 inch model, $749 for the 14 inch model, and $799 for the 15 inch model.

As previously stated, the VAIO Flip PC, Tap 11 Tablet PC and Tap 21 all-in-one PC are now available for pre-order from Sony and Best Buy.
