No New 'Assassin’s Creed' Game For 2016, Says Ubisoft

The Assassin’s Creed series is one of the biggest action franchises in the gaming industry. Since the release of Assassin’s Creed II in 2009, a major installation in the series has been released every year (the most recent title was Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, which came out in 2015). However, Ubisoft won’t continue the trend this year as the company is “stepping back and re-examining the Assassin’s Creed franchise.”

Even without a major Assassin’s Creed title, there’s still some new content coming for the series later this year. The Assassin’s Creed movie, which stars Michael Fassbender, is set to come out at the end of the year on Dec. 21. Fassbender plays the role of Callum Lynch, who eventually uses the Animus in order to take on the role of his ancestor, a Spanish Assassin named Aguilar.
