AMD's chart-topping Ryzen 7 9800X3D is on sale at Amazon right now for Black Friday — save $30 on the king of gaming CPUs
While GPUs are uncharacteristically affordable right now, selling even below MSRP in some cases, it's important to shine a light on the best CPUs out there as well. They may not be as important at higher resolutions, but without a flagship processor teaming up with your high-end graphics card, you run the risk of being bottlenecked. That's why we've spotted a deal on literally the best gaming CPU in the world: the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is on sale for just $449 on Amazon right now, a solid $30 savings from its list price.
Discounts on this chip are rare and often slight, so even the most minimal saving on it isn't to be sniffed at. This is just $10 shy of the lowest-ever price we've seen on this model, and well worth your time.
If you're after the ultimate in gaming performance, there's no better option than the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Thanks to its 93MB of L3 cache, this 8-core/16-thread processor can push out class-leading frame rates in every game out there. With only a 120W TDP, it even stays cooler than the competition, saving you a few extra bucks on that expensive AIO purchase.
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D needs no introduction; at this point, it's synonymous with zero-compromise, almost unparalleled when it comes to its gaming prowess. Bolstered by AMD's game-changing (no pun intended) 3D V-Cache tech, the 9800X3D tops our CPU benchmarks across the board, offering the best FPS numbers and without breaking the bank. Yes, it's expensive in a vacuum, but in our CPU Value Geomean, it ranks 4th, presenting an FPS/$ value of only 0.41, which makes it all the more worth it.
Specs-wise, you're looking at 8 cores and 16 threads, clocked at 4.7 GHz with a maximum boost of 5.2 GHz, built on AMD's latest Zen 5 microarchitecture. The 9800X3D has 96 MB of L3 cache stashed below the CCD, which greatly improves gaming performance while also boosting productivity numbers without dialing up power consumption — a key advantage over competing Intel products.
Almost every game benefits from the extra cache pool, and apart from increasing RAM costs due to the AI boom, the jump to AM5 makes more sense than ever. We recommend the 9800X3D as the very best CPU for gaming in 2025, so the $449 discounted price on Amazon right now is a no-brainer. Paired with one of the best GPUs on the market, you'll be set for years to come.
