Alright now, PC gamers—it's time to put up or shut up. When you read comments on hardware reviews, enthusiasts are always enthusiastic about the latest AMD GPUs, but market share figures don't lie: they're not buying many of them. You could attribute this to many factors, but if pricing is your main concern, then how about this: a brand-new PowerColor Reaper Radeon RX 9070 card for just $519—$95 off the list price and fully $30 under MSRP.

Those days are over, though. Whether because AMD stepped up supply or everyone is buying Blackwell GPUs, Radeon RX 9000 hardware is readily available at e-tailers, and the best deal we found was this PowerColor card over at Newegg. This board offers real 4K gaming performance at just a hair over the price of a PlayStation 5.

Powercolor Reaper AMD RX 9700 16GB: was $614.99 now $519.99 at Newegg

AMD's Radeon RX 9070 is a capable card across almost every resolution. Expect solid 1080p and 1440p performance, with 4K at steady framerates with upscaling. Equipped with 16GB of VRAM, the RX 9070 can run just about every modern title. This Powercolor Reaper card has dropped $30 below AMD's $549 MSRP at Newegg.

To put things in perspective for GeForce gamers, the Radeon RX 9070 sits snugly between the GeForce RTX 5070 and its Titanium cousin in terms of raster gaming performance, while the RTX 5070 catches up a bit when games make heavy use of ray-tracing. It's not like it was back in the Radeon RX 6000 series bad old days, though, where enabling ray-tracing would instantly dumpster the discrete GPU performance. NVIDIA's lead there is less 'generational' and more 'architectural' now. You don't have to take my word for it, though; check out these numbers from our review:

That's real 4K gaming performance there — remember, our testing doesn't include the use of smart upscaling like AMD's excellent FSR4 — and unlike the GeForce RTX 5070, you get a full 16GB of RAM to skip memory allocation issues in titles like Monster Hunter Wilds and The Last of Us Part II Remastered, both notorious for being able to overrun the onboard memory of 12GB GPUs when maxed-out. This card's about to get even better in a couple of weeks, too, as AMD's soon to unveil its FSR 'Redstone' technology that promises to put it on more even footing with competitor NVIDIA.

If you're on the hunt for a graphics card upgrade and you want something potent, but you're not willing to shell out a grand for a GeForce RTX 5080, this PowerColor Reaper Radeon RX 9070 16GB card will get you between 60 and 80% of the way there (depending on the game) for about half the money. You'd better grab it while the getting's good, though, because it's not going to last long at this price.
