Wireless Quality
The X300 has a lot to offer for wireless applications with 3G, Wi-Fi 11n and Bluetooth connectivity and WiMAX and Wireless USB as options.
The 3G Card
The 3G card supports most cellular connections: HSDPA (up to 7.2 Mb/s), UMTS (384 Kb/s), EDGE (236 Kb/s), GPRS (60 Kb/s) and GSM (9.6 Kb/s). It is connected by USB internally and its reception quality is good. The software indicated that the reception was 10 to 20 times better than with our ExpressCard.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
Lenovo uses a classic 4965AGN Wi-Fi card. Interfaced with PCI-Express, it captured our test laboratory’s Wi-Fi signal perfectly. Due to the lack of a Wi-Fi 11n access point, we couldn’t produce test results for that standard. Bluetooth is also integrated. Tests with a keyboard went well as did file transfers.
WiMAX and Wireless USB are available as options, but our test unit did not offer these connections.
