Benchmark Results: Far Cry 2
Far Cry 2 doesn’t need CrossFire to perform adequately, but we can still see the advantage of adding an NF200 controller to the P55 chipset.
At 1680x1050, the P55 lost performance by adding a third card through its chipset’s PCIe controller. Putting that third card on the NF200 allows both the EVGA P55 Classified 200 and MSI Big Bang–Trinergy to reach similar performance levels as the X58.
Only at 2560x1600 does GPU power trump bandwidth and allow the P55’s native mode to see a triple-GPU advantage. Both NF200-enhanced P55 motherboards continue to parrot X58 performance.
Adding 4x AA puts enough stress on GPU performance to maintain a CrossFireX advantage for even the lowest-performance motherboard, and both NF200-enhanced P55 platforms continue to mimic X58 performance.
