Case: Cooler Master HAF X
The high price of Cooler Master’s HAF X is mostly due to added features built upon mid-grade materials. A gigantic 230 mm intake fan replaces the duo of 140 mm fans from our previous build, and Cooler Master also adds 200 mm fans to the front and side panels.

The top of the HAF X supports two fans, but only one is included. More interesting is its ability to hold a dual 120 mm-fan radiator internally, for which 3” of space is provided above the motherboard. Three grommets ease the installation of external coolers as well as anything else the user might like to pass through the back panel.
Other features include a two-drive backplane in the front panel, an air duct with a fan mount to draw air through the internal drive cage for graphics cards, and a card holder bracket with yet another optional fan mount. We’ll detail those features in the case’s upcoming review.
Optical Drive: LG WH12LS30 Blu-ray Burner

We upgraded today’s system to a burner with 12x capability not because we wanted to, but because the cheaper 10x drive is no longer available. We don’t have a specific recommendation for LG’s drive, but it is the closest match to the former part that was chosen based on price.
