6.44-Inch Sony Smartphone Screen Surfaces

A 6.44-inch smartphone screen created by Japanese technology conglomerate Sony has appeared online.

Chinese forum Digi-wo believes the screen is a component for a rumored 6.44-inch, 1080p Sony phablet. The bezels on the side appear to be slightly skinnier than those found on the 6.1-inch Huawei Ascend Mate, which is currently the device with the world's largest phone screen.

Last year, a Sony C6603 Yuga smartphone surfaced, with a photo sample suggesting the device sports a 6-inch screen. Accompanying that is rumored to be a 13-megapixel Exmor RS camera.

Sony is currently preparing to ship its Xperia Z smartphone, with the firm also confirmed to be working on a tablet counterpart.

Looks like were going back to cellphones the size of backpacks, only in a thinner form factor :p

the thinner form factor and the lightness makes big phones awesome, you really don't know till you have tried one and got used to it for a couple weeks. I still think this one is a bit on the large side, but i love my galaxy note 2 and i don't even need to use the 1 hand operation setting and i can still type just fine with 1 hand. I don't understand why so many people are accepting of "phablets" ( I admit that term just blows)

I'll reserve judgement until after I've seen the Note 3.

At 6.44" you pretty much have to shout for your voice to carry all the way to the mic.

Sony days of creativity are over. Even Apple and MSFT are fumbling.
