Gigabyte Updates 3-in-1 Line with Booktop T1132
Gigabyte is giving away up to two Booktop T1132 swivel touchscreen notebooks in its latest Amazing Giveaway contest on Facebook.
One of the great aspects about notebooks with swiveling touch screens is that they can be used as a clunky tablet by rotating the screen and snapping it shut face-up over the keyboard. Gigabyte offers such a product with its Booktop line of notebooks, and has introduced its latest model, the Booktop T1132, sporting features like Intel's 1.6 GHz Core i5-2467M processor, a GeForce GT520M GPU with 1 GB, and Nvidia Optimus switching technology.
As for other features, the swivel notebook consists of an 11.6-inch capacitive multi-touch LED backlit panel with a 1366 x 768 resolution, 2 GB or 4 GB of DDR3 memory depending on your wallet (2 slots, 8 GB max), a default Intel HD Graphics 3000 GPU, a 2.5-inch 5400RPM HDD with 320 GB, 500 GB or 750 GB of storage capacity, a USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 port, HDMI, a 4-in-1 card reader, 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, an optional docking station and more.

I think it's funny how they seem to stray away from the word "tablet" and use "swivel notebook". When in-fact this is a REAL tablet computer. Tablets have been around since the early 90s. And a little fun fact: IBM created the first ever tablet computer in 1992. It also didn't have a keyboard. IBM has had a lot of "firsts" in the industry.
I also find it funny how they tout this as a 3-1 computer because it's a notebook, tablet, and can be put on a docking station. Umm, a lot of notebooks can be put on a docking station.
So, I find nothing special about this tablet. Maybe it's just me...... -

Something I could use at college to take down diagrams with as well as type. And it's a computer as well not running some stupid tablet OS which isn't very useful when your college is teaching with Windows software (VMWare, Visio, Office 2007/2010, Server etc..).
Plus if it has an accelerometer in it, I could also use it for Algodoo. :D -

The reason I got it was for the 3 in 1 aspect - the difference with the docking station is it is vertical and the screen can face out like a portrait style monitor. I keep a mini keyboard plugged into the dock with HDMI going to the TV so it acts as an HTPC. I don't use it as a tablet as it is too heavy.
