Memoright Introduces XTM TLC SSDs

Memoright is announcing its next generation of SSDs, the XTM Series SATA3 units. The SSDs will be built using 19 nm TLC flash memory.

"With our exclusive Endurance Write firmware architecture, Memoright's XTM series allows traditional MLC flash memory to achieve its full potential in performance, while for [the] first time TLC can also be added to SSD applications, evidence of our strong SSD hardware/software R&D capabilities."

The SSDs will feature a thin 7 mm form factor, for both 2.5" and 1.8" units. They will feature read and write speeds of 540 MB/s and 450 MB/s, respectively, as well as random read/write IOPS of more than 80,000.

While TLC flash isn't known to be the most reliable or best performing, it is some of the cheapest to produce. Therefore, while the company didn't give any word on pricing, we can expect the SSDs to be competitively priced. The SSDs will come in capacities ranging from 128 GB to 512 GB, and will be displayed further at Computex, June 4 through June 8, 2013.

    The only things I care about anymore with SSD's is price, and to a much lesser extent, warranty. Don't get me wrong, I love them. Would not own a computer without one. But as far as performance, in real world applications, I cannot tell a difference. I have used Intel 330's 500's, ADATA, C500, Vertex 2 and 3. Other than synthetic benchmarks, I cannot tell a difference. If I build a computer for a friend or family member, I get on Amazon and find the cheapest 128GB drive I can.
    They are all 100 times faster than a Hard Drive.
