Motorola X With Key Lime Pie to Debut During Google I/O?

During this year's Google I/O, which commences on May 15th, the search engine giant is expected to announce the rumored Motorola X smartphone.

According to an unnamed source on Droid Forum, the Motorola X will feature a 5-inch display, which will be edge-to-edge and nearly bezel-free. The device is also expected to run Android 5.0, Key Lime Pie.

It apparently won't be a Nexus model as it'll be available through multiple carriers, with Verizon missing out on offering the phone exclusively. The user interface, meanwhile, will integrate some Motorola add-ons.

Google isn't known to introduce non-Nexus devices at Google I/O, but the search engine giant is expected to make an exception with a Motorola device when considering it hasn't launched any major devices since being acquired by the former for $12.5 billion last year.

As if I didn't already have enough reasons to leave Verizon. I was waiting for this phone to come out to renew my plan. I expect a google made phone to really be something worth buying. No specs yet, but it sounds like it's time to find a new carrier.

I was looking forward to an Android phone actually created by Google. That's all. How many people switched over to At&T when the IPhone was exclusive? The only thing Verizon has going for it in regards to receiving my money is the coverage. The customer service has always been sad, the phones get locked and every possible thing charged for (tethering, wireless hot spot, you must have a data plan if you have a smart phone), and of course, trolls that hunt out anything said negatively about Verizon hurling insults.

I am looking forward to seeing the specs on this phone. According to previous reports, Google is really trying to find the next step in innovation. It'll be interesting to see what they've come up with.

Motorola keeps with their tradition of offering MicroSD and 16GB of internal memory then this will be a looker. A removable battery would be a bonus but not necessary as long as it is large and the chassis can be pried open to replace it.

It would be nice if they take a clue from Ubuntu also. I like the idea of having a docking station hooked up to a monitor and keyboard with mouse. We have multicore phones with reasonable hardware for standard computing. Keep the towers for heavy use, but making the phones able to Bluetooth with a larger display or peripheral sounds like a nice step.

I can see X having something to do with Google Glass also. If you wear the monitor, have the main computer be your phone, and maybe use a projectable keyboard from the phone. Possibly even use the Glass to display a keyboard on the glasses themselves, and then track your finger movements with the camera to determine the keystrokes.
