Thermaltake Outs the Poseidon LED-lit Mechanical Keyboard

Thermaltake has launched a new gaming keyboard, the POSEIDON Illuminated. The keyboard makes part of the e-Sports series of gaming peripherals and features LED backlighting as well as mechanical Cherry MX Blue switches.

Built to be a budget mechanical keyboard, the unit has a fairly basic feature set. It brings you media keys that are merged with the F1 through F7 keys, as well as brightness adjustment keys merged with the F11 and F12 keys. As the keyboard is still aimed at gamers, though, it does feature a disable windows-key feature.

The POSEIDON Illuminated mechanical keyboard from Thermaltake will be rolling out to shelves worldwide through August, and will cost an MSRP of $79.99.

Crap, I just bought the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate for about $50-60 more than that :(

Nice. I still don't see how it's better than my G510, but it is nice. $20 more and you can get an extra display with several functions and 18 programmable keys.

If its of the same quality as my Thermaltake Challenger then it'll be an excellent keyboard!

Old news. Two months ago Tweaktown reported about this at Computex Taipei 2013, but I've heard nothing since. In any event, I'm looking to replace my 7-year old Saitek backlit keyboard. Wonder if the keys are laser/water etched or just stencil painted which will eventually wear off like my Saitek.

Small footprint. Almost too small for my taste. Looking to replace my 7-year old Saitek backlit keyboard. Wonder if the key are laser/water etched or just stencil painted which will eventually wear off like my Saitek.

This kinda peaked my interest, if this goes on sale I'll replace my current Logitech.

Dgingeri, this keyboard is infinitely better than your silly G510 because it's a mechanical keyboard. The two cannot even be compared without everyone laughing :P

The G510 doesn't have mechanical keys, theirs a big difference, My keyboard looks pretty much like this one but no led back lighting but it has a heavy steal base so nothing can move it

Good deal. I like the feel of the Cherry blues (and browns).

Too late, everyone and their dog has made a keyboard like this.
