Samsung to Bundle GamePad with Galaxy Tab 3 Game Edition

Earlier this week, Samsung announced the Gamepad, a gaming peripheral for mobile phones similar to the Moga controller. Now, as the week draws to a close, we're hearing rumors that Samsung may bundle the controller with the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0.

Engadget points to an All About Samsung posting from Germany that carries an image of a Galaxy Tab 3 Game Edition bundle. This special pack includes the Galaxy Tab 3, the GamePad and an HDMI adapter. No pricing just yet, but you can bet it won't be cheap. The GamePad costs $110 as a standalone item, and the Galaxy Tab 3, depending on capacity, can cost up to $250.

The GamePad is compatible with mobile devices from 4 inches to 6.3 inches in size, and connects to the smartphone via a Bluetooth connection. Of course, the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 is much too large to fit. As such, that HDMI adapter will allow you to connect to the GamePad without docking your device. The GamePad supports Android 4.1, meaning gamers should be able to use this device on non-Samsung phones and tablets.

I do not quite understand this controller.

Is that a D-pad or a sliding pad like the 3DS?

Also are those dual analog sticks or more sliding pads?

How embarrassing for Tom's as a tech site to have an article that shows no technical understanding!
The gamepad accepts smartphones from 4" to 6.3" in WIDTH so the Galaxy Tab 8 will of course fit as it is 4.87" WIDE

Oh, yes other sites have made the same observation, ask why would bundle these as the note is too large. The Note 8 is only 8.26" and the gamepad is 5.42" wide so only 1.42" would stick out on each side, it weighs 11.07 oz the gamepad 6.88 oz so around what a 10.1" tab weighs
