17" LCD Part V: Four Panels Compared

Colors

The screen offers a whole series of buttons, one of which, on the right, is supposed to allow you to make pre-settings depending on how you want to use it. Depending on the activity, you can switch to Text mode (very reduced brightness), Internet (average brightness), Entertain (short for Entertainment) or User (personalized mode). Since ideally, there would be no need to swap constantly between modes, we stuck with USER and launched the spectrometer on the default settings.

The result exceeded our expectations. Without any adjustments other than calibration, the 172X is far and away the most faithful LCD screen that we were given to test.

The screen can reproduce 99% of colors. Only black, true, pure black cannot be shown. 98% of the colors (DeltaE < 2) are correctly displayed, 93% (DeltaE < 1) are perfect.

This is by far the best screen... from this point of view.
