Benchmark Results: 3DMark And PCMark
With its more powerful CPU and graphics, the $2,000 PC makes a clean sweep in 3DMark.
The $1,000 PC fares well, also, keeping ahead of the $500 machine, even in its overclocked configuration.
There are quite a few more things to notice in PCMark. First, all three of the tests shown above are affected by hard drive performance, a place where the AMD SB710 SATA controller (present on both the $500 and $1,000 systems) is sorely lacking. Conversely, the $2,000 PC benefits from a better SATA controller and a faster hard drive. A moderate preference for Intel’s most recent CPU architecture accounts for a larger portion of PCMark’s Productivity and overall performance scores.
