There are a few reports out there that have been confirmed by our test results: the Barracuda tends to run a little on the hot side. It might be wise to consider adequate and proper system cooling or a dedicated hard drive cooler if you plan to add this giant to your lineup. This being said, all of the drive are within the 0-60° C operating specifications even with 24/7 operation. Western Digital's concentration on low power consumption has translated into the lowest temperature scores among the three "biggies".
