Matsushita makes strides in reducing PDP power consumption

Although PDP (plasma display panel) makers have been making strides in reducing the high power consumption of PDP technology (as compared to LCD technology), the most energy efficient flat panel TV system in the Japanese market remains an LCD TV (Sharp Aquos LC-37AD5), according to research on the 37" flat panel TV market by Nikkei Sangyo Shimbun.

The research was based on a comparison of the total power consumed in one year by various flat panel TVs (including PDP and LCD TVs) sold in the 37" segment, the paper said.
