Crucial this week announced the release of a new lineup of SSDs dubbed the M500 series. Available in three different form factors with a number of different storage capacities for each, pricing for the drives starts at $129.99 and goes up as far as $599.99. For the UK, Crucial says pricing will start at £103.99 for the 120 GB. The 240 GB will cost £173.99, while the 480 GB and 960 GB capacities carry MSRPs (including VAT) of £315.99 and £476.99, respectively.
The M500 series includes 2.5-inch drives that measure in at 7 mm thin as well as mSATA and NGFF M.2 units. All three models come in 120 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB.The 2.5-inch model will feature a 'Terabyte-Class' 960 GB drive. All drives pack sequential read speeds are 500 MB/s. The 120 GB model features 130 MB/s write, the 240 GB model features 250 MB/s write, and the 480 GB and 960 GB feature 400 MB/s write. All of the drives feature an MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) of 1.2 million hours as well as a total of 72 TB TBW (Total Bytes Written) endurance, and a three-year manufacturer warranty.
The drives are available now through select global channel partners (including Overclockers and Expansys in the UK) and through Crucial.com.
