CES 2007: JVC first to offer HD HDD videocam
Las Vegas (NV) - JVC today announced a high-definition version of its Everio hard drive camcorder series. The GZ-HD7 records video in 1080i (1920x1080 interlaced) onto a 60 GB hard drive. According to the company, that's enough room for up to five hours of HD video at a data rate of 30 Mb/s. The new Everio is slightly larger than the current standard-definition models and integrates three CCDs and a Fujinon lens.
Other features of the device are optical image stabilization, a 10x optical zoom, an array of manual controls, multiple digital connections, bundled editing and archiving software, and availability of an optional DVD burner called "HD Everio Share Station". Available interfaces include USB, HDMI, and i.Link (Firewire, IEEE1394).
The JVC HD Everio GZ-HD7 will be available in April for a suggested retail price of $1800. The share station will be priced at $400.
