Dave Plummer, the creator of the original Task Manager, has created a dashboard for his personal AI project designed to beat the old Atari classic game Tempest. He shared a picture of it on X, saying that this is what the Windows utility would look like now if he were still at Microsoft. You can see it on Tempest AI's dashboard for yourself live, alongside the code for Tempest AI, on Plummer’s GitHub.

The way I'm understanding it, the neural network being trained to play Atari's Tempest is what's takes 70 percent of the GPU cycles. I think the dashboard runs during the training to monitor it.

Training an AI to play a video game seems more practical than making a chatbot.

Thankfully he’s not in charge anymore

Windows has caused enough damages in the world of tech for the past 30 years, by setting disgraceful standards, disgraceful quality, and disgraceful practices.

The only thing I want to see that isn't in the Win10 one is temperature monitoring.

He was never "in charge" of "Windows", he was "in charge" of developing the task manager and he left Microsoft back in 2003, you know, when Windows XP was still the most popular version and worked pretty darn great? If he had still been there, we might have seen a lot of things that WEREN'T "damaged" or "disgraceful".

Lets put it to rest. Plummer vibe codes everything these days. He doesn't know how to do any himself. I'm not sure why you all keep defending this man "just because" if he is clearly someone who just "throws everything together" without actually caring about how things work.

    Oh look a complete mess.

Task manager today is fine, it’s no frills and does it job. It’s one of the few things windows does better than macOS
