Is Samsung Planning a Galaxy S III Mini?

Latest rumors say a smaller Galaxy S III is on the horizon.

Samsung's already had huge success with its Galaxy S line of smartphones, and we're already hearing rumors regarding the launch of the Galaxy S IV. However, it seems Samsung may not be quite done with the Galaxy S III line just yet. Rumor has it Samsung is preparing to launch a Galaxy S III Mini later this month.

According to Unwired View, Samsung has invited German media to an event that boasts something that is both big and small. Google Translate decodes the message as follows: "The size may be small. And so small can be big." In the background, you can just about make out the trademark 'S' that Samsung uses in the branding for all of its Galaxy S products.

So, we know it's a Galaxy S device for sure, but speculation from around the web suggests this device might be a smaller version of Samsung's current top dog, the Galaxy S III. Of course, we won't know for sure until the event itself. Lucky for us, we don't have to wait long. It's scheduled for October 11, which is next Thursday. Stay tuned!

    I think it will be the same spec phone that is due out later for WinPhone 8.

    Yeah, now they're innovating! The Galaxy S III will now fit in normal hands too! So innovative! Seriously, guys, it's what the S III should have been: a phone, not a damn semi-tablet.

So this is for those who still want smaller phones.

  • It's nice to see that there's at least one company that is looking to make a high-end small phone. Alot of others treat smaller/lighter phones as "low end".

    There are still those out there that prefer a small and light weight device.

    The iPhone 5 is one but not the other, and it's a fair bit lighter than the iPhone 4S, which is also one but not the other. Can't have it both ways, it seems. :P

    If it is similar specs but smaller screen (hopefully 4 inch) it sounds like a winner. If it is just a re-branded Galaxy Ace 3, then my time has been wasted.

    iPhone fans wanted a larger screen for years and what did they get in the iPhone5? The same exact size screen only a few pixels longer. So all the text is the exact same size, all the icons the exact same size, and the the exact same small Keyboard buttons. Yes it is 4 inches instead of 3.5 inches but only benefits you in apps that give you extra real-estate for pinch to zoom, like web browsing.
