Smartphones have changed the way we communicate on the go. Offering access to email, video calling, social networks, and apps like Whats App, we're no longer restricted to simple phone calls or SMS message when out and about. However, they don't exactly come cheap. Whether it's a heft off-contract price or an expensive two-year agreement, owning a smartphone can be pretty expensive.
T-Mobile UK is hoping to make the experience more affordable with the a £20 phone called the Energy smartphone. A pay as you go phone from Chinese manufacturer ZTE, the Energy packs a 3.5in 480 x 320 display, 3.2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, GPRS, WiFi and microSD support (2GB included).
If you're an Android fan, this device isn't for you, as it doesn't use Google's mobile OS. Instead, it uses ZTE's own operating system. This means you won't have access to Google Play store or its wide array of applications. What this phone does have is an incredibly low price. T-Mobile launched the device last year priced at £50. That's now being dropped down to £20 with a £10 top up that will give you unlimited free texts (forever), which should appeal to teens on a budget.
