DeepCool Debuts First Water Cooling Products

Editor's Note: While Computex took place last week and all of the news announcements are behind us, we're still sorting through hundreds of in-person meetings and demonstrations, picking out just a few more of the most interesting items we saw up close.

During Computex 2014, DeepCool introduced a new series of products, namely the new Maelstrom series of all-in-one water cooling units. These water cooling units come with either a 120 mm or 240 mm radiator, which come with one or two fans, respectively.

Both the Maelstrom 120 and the Maelstrom 240 will come with pumps built with ceramic bearings, a closed impeller design, and a 0.2 mm microchannel structure over the cold plate for improved heat transfer. The Gamer Storm logo on the water pump is also LED lit with a breathing effect.

Here's the interesting part, though: the fans on the units are 120 mm with a red on black color scheme. The red is a darker tint of red though, closer to a royal red, which looks quite nice. The blades of the fans are also covered in rubber, and overall, these fans feel very well built. DeepCool claims that they offer very silent operation, which we're tempted to believe.

No word on pricing for the units, though we would expect them to be priced right in line with competing closed-loop water cooling units.

God I hate the ribbed tubing. Just makes it looks like that cheap plastic crap you use to tuck wires into, yuck.

Very silent? 'Silent' is like 'pregnant', you is or you ain't.

It doesn't matter how nice you make the fan look if you stick corrugated tubing on it. That fan could have Noctua-level performance and this would still be a trash cooler with that tubing.

Compared to everything already out there, I see absolutely nothing that makes this stand out. Sorry, but I'm less than impressed.

Too late to the game and especially with those tubing and radiator. The radiator is the normal standard so no improvement there, also the tubing is all the way back to the first AIO released by Asetek.

The only thing that may be an improvement is the pump block and fans but no one really cares.

We need new radiator tech like the silverstone TD02 or at least a pure copper nickel plated radiator.

any relation to swiftech's maelstrom? they may have to change that name to avoid product confusion or naming right lawsuits.

Wow y'all aren't even trying anymore. $16,957 for a few hours of work? That is surely more than the $81/hr you just quoted.
