ATi Hits Back (Again) with Mid-Range X700 line, Driver Tweak

Joint Operations

In Joint Operations we tested the framerate in "Quality Configuration" using FRAPS. This run is without FSAA and anisotropic filtering. For the test itself we chose the tutorial "Training: Aircraft," in which we walk over to the Blackhawk helicopter and take position at the left mini-gun. We ended our measurement after the first tour of the target practice range.

At first, the performance of the X700 XT is quite solid. The marked performance hit beginning with 1280x1024 indicates a driver problem, though.

Joint Operations - 4x FSAA & 8x Aniso

We used the same settings as before, adding 4xFSAA and "Anisotropic" detail settings.

In the Catalyst 4.10 beta driver, ATI has fixed the FSAA issues with Joint Operations. The X700 all come in within a few frames of each other and just behind the GeForce 6600 GT.
