ATi Hits Back (Again) with Mid-Range X700 line, Driver Tweak
Test Setup
For this review, we used the same system as in the test of NVIDIA’s GeForce 6600 GT. It consists of an Intel D925XCV desktop mainboard with PCI Express and a Pentium 4 3.2 GHz CPU (Pentium 540) with 1 GB DDR II RAM. For comparisons with the AGP cards, we used an Intel D875PBZ mainboard, also running a Pentium 4 3.2 GHz and equipped with 1 GB of DDR 400 memory.
Due to time constraints some of the results of the ATi cards included for comparisons are still those obtained with the Catalyst 4.8. All results for the X700 were obtained with the new Catalyst 4.10 beta drivers and the A.I. setting "low" for reasons which we have explained previously in this article. Luckily, there was still enough time to obtain the results for the X700 XT with A.I. deactivated.
